underground writing

. . . attending words, revising lives

April 21, 2017

Thanks to all of you who showed up last night for the Juvenile Justice Issues Event we hosted.  It was very encouraging to see so many community leaders, attorneys, judges, and concerned citizens.  Please keep the conversation going.  Working together we can continue the momentum towards positively impacting Skagit County's youth.  Together we can assist in the resuscitation of hope and the transformation of lives.

Juvenile Justice ISSUES Event

April 20, 2017 - 7:00-9:15 p.m.
at the historic Lincoln Theatre in Mount Vernon, Washington

Please join us for a screening of the acclaimed documentary, They Call Us Monsters (2017).  This event aims to inform the Skagit Valley community about important issues related to our youth, and is hosted by Underground Writing, a literature-based creative writing program serving migrant, incarcerated, recovery, and other at-risk communities in Washington's Skagit Valley through literary engagement and personal restoration.

We're planning to make this a free/$5 suggested donation event.  For those interested in helping us make this happen: we are currently looking for sponsors to cover film licensing, promotion, venue booking, and venue employee fees. Donations over and above the event's basic costs will go towards the transformative work of Underground Writing.

A big Thank You to our sponsors . . .
