I’ve been inspired to be a part of Underground Writing or a similar group/organization when I get out.  This program changes lives. I am a prime example.  I now have something to work towards, to strive for.  I have something I want on the outs.”

“I’m not scared to say what I think anymore.”

“I’ve been inside for four to five months now and have been distracting myself pretty well. This writing class is the first time I’ve engaged with the real issues I’m facing.”

Help our transformative work continue. Donate today.

We offer over 100 free creative writing workshops, as well as unique collaborative opportunities, in at-risk community settings each year. Help us continue to freely give our students the gift of writing—as an art form and a tool for life. All proceeds go back into the Underground Writing program fund.

Your support helps our ongoing mission to amplify student voices via the publication of student writing anthologies, KITE, and The Underground Writing Podcast, as well as helping us save toward our vision for an alumni network and a building space in downtown Mount Vernon, Washington.

We are a registered and independent 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization. Our EIN# is 83-2570377.
